JOUR1111 - Lecture 1

A New Course. A New Blog. Let's Go...

Lecture 1.

Woooo. And so it begins. My new blog. Slightly excited and scared I will fail at it miserably. The future be unknown however and so on I type.

The concept Dr Redman proposed very early on in the lecture, the course philosophy, ''YOU are the journalist'', excites me alot.

Not being somebody who knows exactly what it is they want to do with their life as of yet, this idea gives me the opportunity to try journalism, to give it a go and see where it takes me. No judgment, harsh critic (well thats a lie, assessment does loom) and the freedom to go wild so to speak.

I absolutely love the extrapolation he went on to make after reading out the quote "I became a journalist to come as close as possible to the heart of the world" (Henry R. Luce).

Dr Redmans' suggestion that as a journalist one can delve into people's lives and be at the heart of histories, situations and stories is certainly something I would like to explore.

The prospect of what this course may have in store excites me. I look forward to learning more about what makes an article a 'gooden', a photo an eye catcher and a station the one you search for amongst the countless other rambles that seem to be allowed to be braodcast out there.

My goal is to hone in on my writing and refine my skills at the same time as letting my mind loose in order for it to create whatever it may feel.

Mmm the fresh taste of creative freedom, how I love thee.

Bring on Semester 2, jour1111!

peace.x
